Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy recently teamed up with the Shepherd’s Center of the Greenbrier Valley and participated in the Center’s Adventures in Learning Fall Class Series. A six-week program titled “Aging Gracefully: The Impact of Pharmacy on the Aging Process” included presentations on nutrition, healthy living, osteoporosis, hormone replacement, the myths and facts on herbals, the artificial sweetener dilemma and more. The series concluded with a brown bag medication review and free cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure checks.

The newest Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy Express will open on January 3 at the Robert C. Byrd Clinic. The partnership was announced in October and the new pharmacy was erected to support patients at Robert C. Byrd Clinic as well as residents across the Greenbrier Valley.

Located on the campus of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM), Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy will be working closely with healthcare providers at Robert C. Byrd Clinic and faculty and students at WVSOM to create a patient-centered pharmacy that also serves as a teaching pharmacy. This means teams of physicians, clinicians and pharmacists work directly with patients and their families to ensure the highest quality patient care possible.

To commemorate the opening of this newest Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy Express location, the pharmacy will offer special in-store promotions Monday, January 3 through Friday, January 7. For more than 30 years, Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy has been a cornerstone of the community, so the pharmacy will give back 5% of the retail sales this first week to the spring medical mission trip sponsored by the PAX Club at WVSOM. A full grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting is planned for the spring.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to bring a progressive pharmacy to the patients of the Robert C. Byrd Clinic. We’re already seeing great collaboration between the physician teams and the pharmacists, which can only lead to greater outcomes for our patients,” said Steve Swart, executive director at Robert C. Byrd Clinic.

The new state-of-the-art facility offers fast prescription service, convenience, special ordering of hard-to-find products, 24-hour phone and online refill options, custom compounding and exceptional customer service. The store also features an apothecary of over-the-counter medications, Leader brand private label products, Mason vitamins, as well as other convenience items. The week of January 3-7, Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy will also offer $5 off any prescription transferred from any pharmacy outside the VIP Network.

“We value the relationships we have with our customers and believe this is a great way to offer them convenient pharmacy services that are close to their family physicians,” said Rob Londeree, R.Ph., veteran pharmacist and manager of the new pharmacy. “Our mission has always been to bring a healthier life to our community and we believe part of doing that is providing services to them where they feel most comfortable,” Londeree added.

The pharmacy is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 6:00p.m. and Saturday from 8:30am to 12:00pm. The pharmacy is easy to access at the East Wing of the Robert C. Byrd Clinic from Rt. 219 and Lee St. in Lewisburg.
